I use the name "Jurassic Salmon" because the assurances given by AquaBounty Technologies are STRIKINGLY SIMILAR to the assurances given by the Jurassic Park folks in Michael Crichton's 1990 novel (and the movie, of course). Why wouldn't the FDA suppress information about the dangers of Jurassic Salmon? Surely they are under pressure from AquaBounty and the Venture Capitalists / Investors (I worked in high-tech for many years, and have talked to many of them) who want to get a return for their investment (i.e. "get rich"). Nothing wrong with getting a return on investment, except when it endangers the natural salmon population, and maybe the people who end up consuming the stuff. I rue the day "When Jurassic Salmon Roam the Earth."

If these people are worried about the effect of the meters' electromagnetic field, they need to move the $%#& out of the city, because there would be no more of an EM field than from their TV, their radio, cell phone, overhead power lines, Wi-Fi, etc... What a joke.

I also agree that if they have legitimate complaints about the actual meters, that's one thing. They put those in place in Utah, the reasoning is to make meter reading faster and more accurate, which is fine, but they didn't calibrate the system first, and they didn't run the two side by side. As a result, they undercharged thousands of people in Utah and THEN had the gall to say that they were going to recoup those losses by tacking on the undercharged amount to the users' bills, due all in one payment and immediately. THeir response to consumer outrage is that the users should have asked why their bills went down, ignoring the fact that the consumers could have just as easily assumed that their bills went down because of the more efficient system.

These aren't an invasion of anyone's privacy, nobody's gonna get cancer from the meters, but just like in Utah, they need to run the new system side by side with the old for 3-6 months first to see if it is consistent.

Oh yeah, the guy is kinda a doosh for pulling this, he had other ways to anonymously read user feedback...

• Reply to: FDA to Require New, Graphic Cigarette Health Warning Labels 13 years 11 months ago

The labels show corpses, a man smoking through a tracheostomy, pictures of diseased lungs, a bedridden man suffering from end-stage cancer, rotten teeth, a man in the throes of a heart attack, a woman blowing smoke in a baby's face and similar depictions meant to show the actual physical effects of smoking.

Hey, I want to collect the entire series! :-) Do you think they'd bring out a bubblegum brand with those pictures for people who don't smoke?

They should just sell the pink goo, it looks better than McNuggets do.

why
I don't get the reasons why Chrysler should stop the production of electric cars especially that now is the time of high peak demand of electric cars. On top of that, this would also be a good chance for Chrysler to recover some profit in expense of their bankruptcy. Well, I have to admit that Chrysler cars are quite high in terms of price so I think what they should plan is lower the cost of their cars by eliminating some parts such high-tech GPS, shiny side marker, or just by lowering the materials of the car so that many consumers could afford their cars. I hope they should reconsider about this move.
