Tax-exempt foundations like the Public Welfare Foundation purport to be "charitable" organizations. Yet, ironically, in 2009 it gave a $160,000 grant to In These Times magazine for the "charitable" purpose of just setting up a blog for middle-class "left" journalists. By accepting such bribes/"grants" from various U.S. power elite foundations to subsidize their operations, U.S. left "ngo" groups seem to have involved themselves in a hyypocrtical classist tax-dodge and conflict-of-interest situation. The extremely wealthy folks and plutocrats who control U.S. foundations, the U.S. mass media industry, the U.S. corporations and big banks and the U.S. electoral process should now be prohibited from using their tax-exempt grant money to exercise an undemocratic special influence over the U.S. left's political agenda in 2009, during the current U.S. economic depression.. It's time to finally reduce the special influence of the power elite foundations (and the middle-class grant-hustlers they currently subsidize) over the classist U.S. left and finally create an anti-corporate/anti-classist New Left that actually works to redistribute the surplus wealth of the "non-profit" foundations directly to U.S. working-class people and unemployed people during the current U.S. economic depression.

This was an excellent commentary/article and I commend you for writing it. I would like to hear you expose the names of the PR firms as well as the top executives who are responsible for "being in bed" with the insurance companies and anti-health-care-reform companies. I think it's important that the public know the culprits by name and face.

    Dear WinstonSmithII,

I have two favourite websites: PRWatch and Holy mp3. And I can give you free advice... first stop rubbish that you write then clean your eyes full of rubbish and then come back and we'll continue and think again.

This comment sounds like it came from a tried and true Fox (Fixed) News devotee the most misinformed group of people in the World. Wendell Potter is telling the truth and exposing the empty suits that are the foundation of current " Neo-Conservative" movement. And of course this person hides behind the cowardice of anonymity.

The Kaiser Foundation is one place to start.
