It's funny that this article was released as I was just speaking to a young fellow (Gen-Yer) about the subject today.

He mentioned that "There are so much more diseases today!" .. which of course is not true. I mentioned that there is just a greater public awareness on any illness, all thanks to the might of the pharma industry.

In fact, mortality rates should be lower since the science of medicine has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few decades.

Aside from ignoring deadlier and more prevalent cancers, its worth pointing out that the point of most breast cancer awareness campaigns is off base too. Advances in treatment of breast cancer mean that regular mammograms are now of dubious value and should probably be limited to people with a family history of breast cancer. All that mammography is very expensive and the gap in detection time between mammograms and regular doctor visits doesn't make much difference any more in terms of survivability. Finally, I think we need to ask "Who isn't aware of breast cancer at this point?" For those who are still unaware, clearly the current programs are a failure. Expanding or continuing them isn't going to help.

Why?? Because approximately 94% of all those lung cancer deaths are self-inflicted due to smoking. Are you pro-choice?? Good. With your choice comes responsibility for it. If you choose to smoke you should be willing to accept the increased risk of lung cancer.

Surely you know the soon to be Republican Speaker of the House and soon to be Republican Pro Temp of the Senate could easily lead us to a Republican position in the White House sooner than that. This could be the President of Firsts, the first President to be Impeached!!!

Way to look a gift horse in the mouth. Some people never happy with ANYTHING. I see the irony here, but seriously, get a life. Don't like the food? Don't buy it, don't eat it. Want to raise money yourself? Figure out a way to do that, but don't give a company a hard time for donating money to help a cause that actually needs the money! In the land of cupcakes and rainbows everyone would open their pocketbooks and give all they can directly to every good cause out there. In real life we know that doesn't happen. You and I both know that no one is running out to KFC to buy chicken with the hope of curing breast cancer. If someone is buying it anyway, then what is the harm in KFC donating some of the money to a good cause? Why bash companies that are actually trying to help? I guess you'd be happier with them donating nothing and still slinging their fast food. Seriously. You are being shortsighted in my opinion.
