Can anyone answer why these ways wouldn't work to put limits on corporate involvement in elections: 1. Why can't corps be required to have shareholder approval to spend money on political campaigns? Why, as a share holder, must I invest in practices that are opposite to my interests? 2. For disclosure, why is it not possible through FCC regulations to require full disclosure of who is funding campaign adds? Right to free speech doesn't include the right to shout 'fire' in a crowded theatre; why cannot there be restrictions on the use of the media to prevent public influence of criminal organizations, or foreign powers with an interest in the outcome of a US election?

Didn't the CEO get over $1 BILLION in total compensation, not too long ago - and weren't all the bonuses, awards dinners, advertising (read: propaganda), lobbyist fees and the like, taken out BEFORE the net profit was calculated? On what page of the draft NAIC report on what would be allowed under care imrovement costs are exclusions such as wellness programs, 24 hour nurse lines, and other common and popular programs that improve disease management and access to care, mentioned? Does it exlude them ALL or does it set limits (as it SHOULD)? If Medicare can operate with 3% overhead, I think ALL the Health Insurance Companies should too! Get rid of all the parasites.

Because they're greedy? Because they want to cash in before the gate closes? Because they can? Because fewer people will be able to afford health insurance and so they have to soak those who will are still able to pay?

Tim, you too sound like a lobbyist, agent, or employee of UHC, or similar. For the sake of disclosure, at least let the CMD staff check into your background. I don't trust the mud YOU'RE throwing in the water.

Anonymous, are you one of those lobbyists swarming around down there? I'll bet every one of them (you?) had these dates etched in stone tablets, so they could spew their lies all over the overnment representatives. Those lobbyists, and the companies they pimp for, are a venal and immoral lot. Your rhetoric doesn't work, here. Begone, before somebody drops a house on you, too. I see your statement that "many people are not seeing the doctor as much due to the very weak economy" as a sad and unfortunate thing; you're saying it's great for business at the (your?) insurance company. I hear you can get a heart in Oz (easier than you can from any American Health Insurance Company). Check it out!
