With most food markets having a small and overpriced section in their produce department for organic and fresh produce it doesn't surprise me that they are trying to jump on the whole food bandwagon but with such loose regulations on food and labeling it is no surprise they are trying to get in under the radar and grab some of that natural , organic crowds cash...
It seems to me that this story is related to a recent story about Sams Club starting to offer loans to consumers because the banks were sitting on their money and not loaning it to anyone. Safeway probably had some sales meeting in which some genius came up with the plan to boost sales.
I understand that an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure, but the thing is that no one knows for sure just how far out we are from finding a cure. In the mean time though, I think it's more important to focus on the tasks at hand - for instance, methods of treatment for those who already have it. Having survived breast cancer myself, I found it a little frustrating that there was this relatively huge amount of support for breast cancer research, and little for those who are currently suffering. It's not that I don't appreciate all these donation commercials and pink ribbon stickers for your car and what not, but those do nothing for the ones like me, who have already undergone treatment, and are now focusing on breast reconstruction and getting their lives back.
Have you seen the latest public commercial? It's interesting that the spokesman is a hard working African-American gentlemen who pledges to work hard as he can to stop this mess.
It's almost as if BP is the victim here.
Very interesting tactic by BP.

Are they trying to ride to current hip which is the farmers market? Geez they can't even think of a new marketing strategy.
