The results of the poll aren't in any way surprising. It seems that if I read the article correctly, the vast majority of the respondents essentially said they were fiscally conservative. Some of the other social idealogical differences lie in the other self descriptors Republicans, Democrats or Independents. No surprises there.

You should look it up in the dictionary and in the laws that govern disposal and reuse of materials. Using that term for the solids produced in a municipal wastewater treatment plan is "spin" of the worst sort. You are deliberately making people fear something YOU don't understand. The treatment processes for the organic solids produced from the bacteria, diatoms and algae that consume the nutrients in sewage include processes to kill bacteria, and the inorganic constituents in biosolids are stringently controlled. Monitoring is performed to ensure quality before any product is distributed. You should learn more about the pretreatment program for industrial wastewaters as well as the solids processing that occurs onsite at a publicly owned wastewater treatment plant before you write about it. Please reserve the use of "toxic sludge" to something that meets the definition. Class A biosolids are not "toxic sludge" any more than composted horse manure is "toxic waste"

    1. B+, to rank an A it should be outside the Fed. 2. C+, it should prohibit pension funds, IRAs ( which are mostly mutual funds) & 401Ks from purchasing derivatives. 3. D+, without Glass-Steagall it is a terrible bill.

    wow
SF : why not separate our city-wide compost collection from the sewage sludge? I am not a gardener, nor a self proclaimed "environmentalist," but putting sewage sludge on the gardens (and particularly on the ones that grow food) does not sound like a good idea at all. Now, the precautionary principle is a good idea, just too bad we don't follow it. Good Article, as people in public office who spend thats time looking out for themselves need to be called out. Wish these jobs would go to people who actually do care about public health and the environment, and bother to do their homework too!

Arizona needs to fix it's attitude and immigration laws. A Media campaign is like putting a bandaid on a deep wound. I know this is a very difficult and sensitive issue- but hatred and us vs them will not get this solved. Somehow we all need to find a way to become kinder and more accepting.
