FreedomWorks, Inc., a non-profit organization heavily involved with the Tea Party movement, announced on August 3rd a new round of Tea Party rallies throughout Wisconsin. See schedule here.
This is the same FreedomWorks that brings us the "Tea Party Express" brand of the overall tea party movement. The same FreedomWorks that has received $12.4 million in funding from the Koch Family Foundations since 1986 (including the organization's predecessor, Citizens for a Sound Economy, which was spearheaded by David Koch of Koch Industries and later split into the Koch-funded Americans for Prosperity (which is chaired by billionaire industrialist David Koch) and what became FreedomWorks). The same FreedomWorks whose leader Dick Armey, in the aftermath of the vote to strip Wisconsin state workers of their rights, sent a note to followers exclaiming "We won in Wisconsin."
"FreedomWorks, Inc." is a 501(c)(4) and received about $3.6 million in funds and spent almost a million on "grassroots mobilization," about a half million on "federal and state campaigns" and about a quarter of a million dollars on media outreach (television, radio, editorials, blogging, and social media efforts) in 2009.
