CMD's new Senior Fellow on Health Care continues to hit the road and light up the debate nationally, and our local paper features an extensive interview and notes that soon he'll be right here in our own Wisconsin backyard: "Wendell Potter has emerged as one of the most important truth tellers in the current health care debate. After a 20-year career as a corporate executive, Potter left his job last year as the head of communications for one of the nation's largest health insurers and began explaining how the insurance industry is warping the debate in order to protect profits. In appearances on dozens of television programs, Potter has revealed the cynical manipulations of the discourse by corporations that meticulously seek to deny care to those who need it the most. On Sept. 12, Potter will be at Fighting Bob Fest at the Sauk County Fairgrounds along with other advocates for real reform: U.S. Sens. Bernie Sanders and Tom Harkin, Congresswomen Tammy Baldwin and Gwen Moore, populist Jim Hightower and activists from around the nation and across Wisconsin. On Sept. 11, at the Barrymore Theatre, investigative journalists Jeremy Scahill (who blew the lid off the high crimes and misdemeanors of Blackwater, the nefarious defense and intelligence contractor) and Greg Palast will headline a pre-Bob Fest event that will focus on assaults on our liberties."
